Gas Service

Gas service has been restored to all buildings that can accept the service and where the infrastructure is intact. This does not include buildings where the meter was removed or tagged because of safety concerns.

For those where the meter was removed or tagged, you will need to have a licensed plumber inspect/repair the pipes prior to having the service turned back on.

The plumber will charge you for the City inspection fee which is $30.00 and handle filing the permits with the City to have the work inspected. Once the City inspects the work and it passes, they will release the meter Energy to give it service.

As they continue to repair the infrastructure, gas service may be temporarily interrupted or offline.

Phone Service

Phone service is slowly coming back online as they repair the central offices. Only 2 office were dry.  The rest (almost 30 of them) were damaged.

Your phone line does not originate from the closest central office.  Therefore, some people in the neighborhood will have phone service back faster than others.

Trash Pickup

The Army Corps of Engineers is now in charge of picking up trash.  There is no schedule on the exact days they will pickup but they are monitoring areas and picking up as needed.

Recycling has been suspended.

Trash should be separated into piles that do not block fire hydrants.

The categories are:

1. Solid Waster - This is household waste

2. White Goods - This is appliances

3. C & D Materials - Tree debris, sheet rock, furniture and carpet

They will be making a special collection for hazardous materials.   Do not place these on the side walk until the day of pickup for reason of Public Health.
