Fabourg Marigny Flood Wall Mural Project The goal of the project is to beautify the city by way of the flood walls. By painting the relief areas of the wall with murals commissioned to local, student and adult artists, they would provide a stunning improvement to the visual appeal of a very unattractive but necessary protective barrier. The murals would improve the look of the surrounding area and be a huge draw for residents and tourists to Crescent Park. The initial project would be to create the murals showcasing the history and culture of New Orleans in Faubourg Marigny. It would start at Elysian Fields and then go towards the Marigny Street entrance of Crescent Park and continue all the way to NOCCA at Franklin Ave. Overall themes would be researched and selected and then artists would submit drawings that would then be approved. There may also be an opportunity to put murals on other parts of the entrance that crossover or are adjacent to the wall such the elevator shaft to make the art 3 dimensional.
